Photographs over 100 years old are certain to contain degradation in varying degrees.
In this instance, it's not just the yellowing of the image, but the loss of detail.
Here, researching the clothing styles/colors of the period, and finding visual reference images of the area were crucial to accurately rebuilding the details.
From the worn wood on the building, to the ladder and boards stacked against the building, the barrels, and even realizing that the dark spot in foreground was a rooster all contributed to the sucess of this restoration
If one looks closely, brush strokes are visable in the clouds, showing how they were created.
