Doberman & Poodle

-Doodle -
noun : an aimless drawing
verb : make a doodle; draw aimlessly
breed : Doberman & Poodle pedigree

Most of the rare and exotic breeds I have managed to uncover have been in circumstances that the appearence of a camera would have resulted in a quick expulsion from the premises. Since I've "doodled" all my life, I've been able to provide a fairly accurate doodle drawing from the brief glimpse I glanced in the blink of an eye during the split second within the heartbeat of time I was allowed to dawdle with the DoOdle.

The Doberman Pinscher and the Poodle are two of the most popular breeds in the world, and combining them in this unique genetic conjugation will likely result in a tidal wave of acceptance throughout the canine community. (Purists of the individual breeds might initially be a bit reluctant, but would, in time, become acclimated to the statuesque stature of their appearance.)

As with all breeding programs, there are some traits that will be reinforced, and some that may be lost. Those who obtain the breeds earliest progeny should be aware that what you get is often determined by the flip of the genetic coin... the "twist of the DNA... the genesis of the genome.

Grooming should get the attention it deserves. As the Poodle doesn't shed and are hypoallergenic, the coat of the DoOdle will often lead owners to trim into some rediculous pattern one sees on show dogs like pompoms on the head or feet, puff balls on the tail, etc. Be forewarned... the Dobe part of this breeds primal instinct WILL NOT tolerate this, and will pay you back by making a shambles of your house, yard or vehicle at the first opportunity.

Poodles are usually polite with strange people and other animals. The doberman often becomes aggressive with other male dogs (they like female poodles, as you can see here) unless properly introduced and will chase cats for sport. The DoOdle tends to be conflicted while wondering what should be done. (Sort of like some politicians)

Poodles are known as "sensitive". (Must be the French part) and Dobermans are known as "velcro" dogs because they are so people oriented they follow one like a shadow. The DoOdle tends to follow three steps behind and wait for you to tell it what to do in a show of acceptance for the humans "Alpha" status.

Both breeds are known to be good watch dogs. With the DoOdle, the aggressive appearance of the head, sitting on the "foo foo" looking fluffy bouffont of the well groomed body can so confuse would be burglers, attackers, sales men and even mail men, that they usually shuffle off muttering to themselves; leaving the DoOdle to wonder what happened.

Since the Doberman is of German decent, and the Poodle of French lineage, I decided to use "Conte" (French) Crayon to create the art. (Considering the historical interaction of these two countries, it's not suprising this breed is slightly conflicted)

All in all, a useful breed of astonishing beauty and elegance, or as the French would say, "joli chien laid". while in Germany, a request might be made to "bitte ihm aus ihm heraus gesetzt elend". Different strokes for different folks.

Note: A lady breeder of Poodles (I just can't elaborate on "that" job description) wrote and informed me that the Poodle is "not" of French decent, but of English) so I started to change the info above. But on reflection,it's my "personal" belief it had to be the French who dreamed up the "poodle cut", and will just have to bear the burden of having the breed identified with their past "erreurs à la mode de toilettage".
